Revelation 20
"Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Messiah, and they will reign with him for a thousand years." - Revelation 20:6
According to John's vision, Satan will be seized and thrown into a sealed pit for 1000 years. He won't be able to deceive the nations during that time (v. 3). Believers then will come to life. This is called "the first resurrection." They will be priests of God and of Jesus and rule with Jesus for 1000 years.
This 1000 year period is often called the Millennium. We might also call it the Messianic age or the Messianic kingdom. This is the seventh and final dispensation, when all prophecies related to this period of the earth's history will be completed. Many prophecies from the Old Testament will be fulfilled at this time. I believe I will be there. It will be a time of rest and shalom previously unexperienced in human history. Creation will flourish, and Jesus himself will lead the government. I look forward to this time and believe in faith that it will happen. A straightforward reading of the text, especially this chapter, supports the premillennial position.
Father, may Satan be chained for 1000 years, as you have foretold in your word. May believers from all ages be resurrected to live in Jesus' 1000-year kingdom. It will be a wonderful time. I'm looking forward to it with every ounce of my being. May we long for Jesus' coming kingdom and the new heavens and earth to follow. In Jesus' name, amen.
