“…[B]ecause, if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, ‘Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame…’” (Rom 10:9-11).
Greetings Friends, Family, and Supporters,
We have gotten settled in Little Rock, Arkansas, and will be here two more months until August 1 while I work at Little Rock Air Force Base as a judge advocate attorney. The legal office at Little Rock AFB is great to work with. My boss and several members of the office are strong believers. The Air Force Base is a 30 minute drive from the Airbnb where we live.
Averil is feeling upbeat about her health. She recently has received lots of lab results that show encouraging signs of healing. Her telephone consult with her integrative oncologist on Tuesday went very well. She has high amounts of mold and BPA in her system and is low on Vitamin D, but she can work on these things. She will get a PET scan tomorrow. Her regular IV Vitamin C and mistletoe treatments continue, and we’ve purchased an infrared sauna and set it up in our bedroom for her to use every day. Whole Foods Market and Costco are nearby which gives us good access to organic foods. We are very happy in Little Rock and feel we have everything Averil needs to heal. Praise God for this. Averil is in the gym doing aerobics and weights 5-6 times a week, which is awesome!
We have also found a great church, Fellowship Bible Church Midtown, which is only one mile from our home. The worship, preaching, fellowship, and youth group are excellent, and we have gotten plugged in very quickly. They even have what they call D groups! Arkansas is in the heart of the Bible belt, and the percentage of Bible believing Christians is very high. Of course there are always opportunities for evangelism, even in this environment. Fellowship is one church spread over several campuses, each with their own elders and pastors. Four primary Bible teachers travel between the campuses. No one pastor is in charge. It seems quite Open Brethren in some ways!
The kids are loving it here and continue to homeschool under Averil’s direction. We restarted homeschool humanities for Sophia and Noah and are currently studying the life and music of Johann Sebastian Bach. The local public library furnishes tons of books for Abraham, Moses, and David to read. Through our church, I have taken both Noah and Sophia on father-son and father-daughter float trips on the Buffalo River north of Little Rock. And we enjoyed miniature golf in Hot Springs over Memorial Day weekend. We also celebrated Noah’s 13th birthday and Sophia’s 15th birthday in May!
I have sent out my ministry resume to about 10-12 churches around the south, midwest, and west, and a few churches in Tennessee, Texas, and Kansas have expressed initial interest. Please pray for God’s leading and guidance. We pray for a good theological fit, a place for Averil to heal, and a place for our children to thrive in their teen years. We will be in Denver, Colorado, in August-September for another Air Force assignment. Beyond that, we have no particular plans and are ready for anything.
We pray that your churches, D groups, youth groups, worldview camps, and Precept studies continue to thrive and grow. Please sign up your teens/young adults ages 15-20 for the Thinking Matters apologetics camp in Christchurch, June 27-30! Let us know if you have any prayer requests. We love to pray for you.
If you would like to donate toward Averil’s breast cancer recovery fund, please visit here. Thank you for your giving so far, as we have raised $59,000 toward the goal of $140,000, which will cover two years of Averil’s healing journey.
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Rom 12:1-2).
Love in Christ,
Jeff, Averil, Sophia, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and David
