Turn My Eyes from Worthless Things

Psalm 103, 119:1-48

H - "Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things and give me life in your ways." - Psalm 119:37

E - The psalmist is in danger of looking at worthless things. So he asks God to turn his eyes from those things in order to experience life in God's ways. The prayer is for God to turn his eyes and to give him life.

A -  Father, are the eyes of my heart looking at anything worthless? Am I experiencing life in your ways? How can I experience more of your life?

R - "This verse is a prayer, not a to do list item. The psalmist asks me to turn his heart away from worthless things. He doesn't resolve to turn away from worthless things. Notice his reliance on me. You need to ask me to turn your eyes and to give you life. Life is not to be found in what you do but in me myself. You are in Christ, but I want to put Christ in you. So ask me to turn your eyes from looking at worthless things. Ask me to give you life in my ways."

P - I will do exactly that, Father. Please, my whole life, turn my eyes from looking at worthless things. Give me extraordinary life through Christ in me. I want life in your ways. I thank you for prompting us to get totally out of debt. That is a huge release. Now also, help us to get our nutrition and exercise where it needs to be. Lord, I want to live every moment with you, in your ways. May you make it happen. I love you. Amen.
