Proverbs 16-18
H - "Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding. Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise. When he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent." - Proverbs 17:27-28
E - These are proverbs of Solomon (Proverbs 10:1), inspired by the Holy Spirit. To be wise believers, we are to restrain our words, have a cool spirit, keep silent, and close our lips.
A - Father, am I talking too much?
R - "Under most circumstances, ask for permission before you offer advice. Let others speak, though you may have to direct the conversation. Like my Son, use questions and parables to instruct and persuade. Think carefully about what you say. A man of few words is a man after my own heart. Less is more."
P - Father, filled with the Holy Spirit, abiding in Messiah Jesus, may I be a man of few words. Please stop me from filling all times of silence with words. Amen.
