2 Kings 5-6
H - "[Elisha] said, 'Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.' Then Elisha prayed and said, 'Yahweh, please open his eyes that he may see.' So Yahweh opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha." - 2 Kings 6:16-17
E - Elisha, the man of God, has been informing the king of Israel about the war plans of the king of Syria. The king of Syria is fed up with this and sends an entire army to seize Elisha. They show up at Elisha's house in Dothan. Elisha, though, tells his servant not to be afraid. There is a huge, unseen angelic army all around them.
A - Father, I have two questions. First, can I be a man of God like Elisha? Second, how can I be in tune with the unseen realm around us? I need more spiritual sight.
R - "There are men of God today, like Elisha, and you certainly can be one of them. The key is spending time with me, especially in prayer. To be a man of God, ramp up your prayer life and study my word with greater zeal. As for spiritual sight, that is given to men of God who have developed the capacity over time to see spiritual realities. Aim your mind for the heart of things, not the superficialities. In discussions with people, go to the heart. Believe in what my word says about angels and demons. Understand that the spiritual realm is primary, not the physical realm. Fully accept my testimony about the spiritual realm."
P - Father, help me to be a true man of God in today's world. Hone my prayer life. Open my eyes to spiritual realities. I choose to put on the full armour of God and to stand firm in the power of the Lord Jesus (Ephesians 6:10). I want to be a man of God who sees the spiritual realm.
