He Who Is Humble and Contrite in Spirit

Isaiah 65-66

H - "'All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares Yahweh. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.'" - Isaiah 66:2

E - Isaiah, living around 700 bc, is prophesying about the end of history. God will bless the righteous and punish the wicked. He is on the side of believers and against unbelievers. Human beings have a choice. Much of that choice comes down to one's attitude of humility or pride.

A - Father, am I humble and contrite in spirit? Am I trembling at your word?

R - "Jeff, read my word with complete trust as a child. Accept the plain, ordinary, common sense understanding of the Bible. My word is meant to reveal, not to conceal. I want you and other believers to understand what I am doing in the world and how I work. I want you to know me. Trust and believe my special revelation. Focus on what is written and don't try to discover some secret, hidden meaning. Take my word at face value. Then you will be my humble one. I will turn and bless you richly. I will reward you with my Son in his kingdom."

P - Father, help me to rightly understand your word of truth and to tremble at it. Help me to be a preacher and teacher of your word. Help me to make things clear to people ready to listen. I love you! Thank you for the privilege of being your servant.
