Jeremiah 52, 2 Kings 24-25
H - "For because of the anger of Yahweh it came to the point in Jerusalem and Judah that he cast them out from his presence." - 2 Kings 24:20
E - Judah's rebellion against God had come to the point where he finally cast them out from his presence, exiling her to Babylon. He had given her chance after chance to turn back to him. He was so patient with her, like a husband patiently waiting for the return of his adulterous wife. But Judah kept following the ways of the nations. She turned her back on the God who loved her. Now Judah will suffer exile for 70 years, while the land of Israel gets the required rest.
R - Father, it feels things are "coming to the point" in our own day. Many are asking whether we are living in the end times. We can't know for sure how close we are to the end, but we do know the end is coming. Humanity is turning its back on you, Lord, and your anger is building. Father, you are holy and just. You do not want to bring your wrath upon the earth. You are a patient and loving God. You loved us so much you sent your Son to die on the cross to save us. But Lord, you will not allow sin to continue indefinitely. Your holiness repels and judges all sin. So Lord, I pray for revival in our day. May human beings humble themselves before it is too late. Be patient with us, so that people have more time to decide. Help us to get the gospel message out there far and wide before your judgment comes. Do not cast the unbelieving world out of your presence yet. There are still some who will believe. Help us to reach every single person with the gospel message, that everyone may know how to escape your coming wrath. Amen.
