To Whom the Son Chooses to Reveal

Luke 10

"In that same hour [Yeshua] rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, 'I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for such was your gracious desire. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him." - Luke 10:21-22

Here, Yeshua rejoices that he gets to reveal his Father to "little children" who are ready for it.

Getting to know God is like a dance. God makes overtures to us and is watching how we respond. If we take a step toward him, he takes ten steps toward us. He watches us carefully. If we continue to show interest, he opens up more to us. He begins to reveal himself to us.

What we do with the revelation we have already received is very important. If we rebuff God when he begins to reveal himself to us, he is under no obligation to reveal more. He is looking for soft hearts. If we withdraw from him, he will withdraw from us. If we draw near to him, he will draw near to us.

Jesus rejoices when he finds willing hearts among men and women, because then he can reveal more of who is Father really is. He chooses to reveal his Father to those who are ready for it, who want to know the Father in a deeper way.

In our fast-paced, technological world, how many really want to know God?

No one knows who the Father really is except his Son. If we want to know God, we must know him through Yeshua.

Father, have you made recent overtures to me that I have rejected? Forgive me, Father. Give me a heart that wants to know you, a heart that responds to you when you initiate. Reveal yourself to me, to us, through your beloved Son, our Lord Yeshua.
