You Who Test the Minds and Hearts

Psalm 7

"Yahweh judges the peoples. Judge me, Yahweh, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me. Oh, let the evil of the wicked come to an end, and may you establish the righteous—you who test the minds and hearts, righteous God! My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart. God is a righteous judge, and a God who feels indignation every day." - Psalm 7:8-11

Modern man rejects the idea of judgment. But the Bible reveals God does indeed judge us (v. 8), as is right for him to do as our Creator and King. He will judge us based upon our righteousness and integrity (v. 8). The problem is, none of us have these things in and of ourselves. The requirement of God's judgment is perfect righteousness and integrity. By taking refuge (v. 1) in Jesus, God imputes perfect righteousness and integrity to us, which is absolutely amazing. He saves the upright in heart (v. 10), who are upright only by grace through faith in Jesus (Eph 2:8-9).

Father, it is right for you to judge us. Thank you we can meet your judgment through the imputation of Jesus' righteousness to us. We are saved by grace. Now make us operationally upright even as we are already positionally upright by grace. In Jesus' name, amen.
